Last week, our Senior Product Manager Lee, our Head of Innovation Ash and I headed to London to spend two days at RetailEXPO. Held at Olympia London, RetailEXPO is Europe’s leading event for retail technology.
We’d been invited by Baringa to take part in their Start-Up Safari, and were particularly excited as we’d also been shortlisted for a coveted Innovation Award.
Perfecting our pitch to some of the world’s biggest retail brands
It was pretty full on, but incredibly exciting. Baringa had arranged regular tours from some of the largest names in retail, and so every hour or so we were pitching to a new audience. Even if they weren’t a bathroom retailer (so currently not eligible to buy our software), it was fantastic to see how people engaged on a personal level. Lots of ‘I could have used that for my recent renovation’ or ‘when can I start using it for my next project?’
Our UX playground came to life on mobile!
The most exciting part for me was seeing how everyone interacted with our UX playground. We showed a simple room simultaneously on a desktop and mobile, and talked through the different stages of a bathroom renovation process. By simply placing the window, toilet and door, and clicking the ‘magic’ button to bring a bathroom to life in a few seconds was the clincher in our pitch. Being an Innovation Award Finalist…
One of the most exciting parts of the RetailEXPO was being a finalist in the Innovation Trail + Awards 2019. Here’s a picture of us on the stand being handed our certificate!
